Textured Alcohol Inking

Have been playing today with all sorts of bits and getting really messy!!!

This is ok for a first attempt but I shall certainly be having another try as I think I need to apply more PVA at the final stage before applying the AI's.

Both pieces have masking tape, tissue paper, cellophane and netting in them to texture the card.

The AI's were splattered onto this piece which meant that the ink got inside the netting and on the cellophane. I dipped a pom-pom (which I had to make first) into blending solution to wash the colours together

I used the wooden applicator and the felt to apply the AI's to this piece. It was really hard to cover the netting and the gaps were much harder to get the ink into. For some reason, the ink would not take to the cellophane on this one

Adirondak Colour Layering

Got up early this morning and took Fraz to the woods. Of course, I had an ulteria motive, I needed some decent leaves!!! I carried out the same process as before but used less of the spray. I'm quite pleased with the results and at least this time, they do look like leaves!! Top set cranberry, middle, wild plum and bottom lettuce, all adirondak colour wash sprays.

These are the results after the alcohol inks and the blending solution have been applied. I am pleased with the first 4 but I don't think the green is a dark enough colour to start the background off. I started to use cranberry alcohol ink and quickly decided it was to dark. On the opposite side I tried the gold metalic but that didn't work either, so I switched to butterscotch for the remainder

Thank You LazyKay

Received this fab book mark today from my mate LazyKay. The images are printed onto a furry kind of material, it feels really nice to the touch and the quote is embossed in silver - thank you xxx

Wall Hanging

Finally got my melt pot out again today. This is a wall hanging that I've made for a friend. Unfortunatley the two pieces appear to blend so you can't see the detail on the face and the rainbow effect of the perfect pearls on the back piece very clearly. But I'm happy with it and I hope she will be too

Adirondak Colour Layering

Had a go at Adirondak Layering, but it didn't work out as planned. I covered the initial piece too throughly, so when I came to add the alcohol ink and blending solution it didn't do an awful lot. So I decided to add another colour alcohol ink to the left hand side just to see what would happen. The bottom photo is a bit dark, but it's actually turned out ok and I am hoping they look even better when I cut the page into the sizes I need.

Saturday Workout - Spotlight

This weeks challenge on Saturday Workout is Spotlight. This is acutally one of my Lotstodo houses for a swap, but I thought it would work with this challenge too.

TGIF Challenge - Quotations

This weeks theme on TGIF is quotations. I created the background using orange adirondak paint from the dabbers. I painted it onto some bubble wrap and laid the painted side down on the card. I then used orange chalk to cover the white card. I stamped my Tim Holtz quote using pumpkin stazon, added a flower to top left and bottom right and a circle to each of the opposite corners

Created By Hand Challenge - Orange Skinny

This weeks Created by Hand Challenge was to create a skinny using only orange. I inked up the background with spiced marmalade and dried marigold distressed inks, threw some water over it and dried it off with kitchen roll. Stamped my main image in pumpkin stazon, masked it off and added the flourishes on the left and the music notes on the right

Houses Swap - Lotstodo

These are my houses for the swap Hilda is hosting on Lotstodo Forum

Lotstodo Week 18 Challenge - Angels

This is my entry for this weeks Lotstodo challenge which is angels. The background has been created using olive glimmer mist.

Torso Tags

Another couple of torso tags for the swap on Lotstodo

Celebrate Atc

This is an atc I decided to make to try out one of my new stamps. It would also fit into the Wednesday Stamper two tone challenge

4 x 4 Friday & Wednesday Stamper Challenges

Again this 4 x 4 covers two challenges this week. Green and white two tone for Wednesday Stamper and 4 x 4 Friday for the splash and spray. I spritzed the background with lettuce adirondak colour wash and when dry, gave it a blast of olive glimmer mist, then added the stamped image using olive stazon. The background stamping is music and I added the word celebrate. I made the hat and the balloon from an old book and added a piece of string to the balloon so it looks like she is holding it

Crazy Amigo & Wednesday Stamper Challenges

This 4 x 4 covers two of this weeks challenges. Crazy Amigo's challenge was to use staples and Wednesday Stamper was two tone. I have chosen yellow and orange. I used gesso on the background, covered it with spiced marmalade and mustard seed distressed inks and used a baby wipe to reveal the gesso'd bits. I used orange staples to embellish.

Thank You's from Kathleen

I received these two fabulous ATC's from Kathleen. I picked up some Paperartsy mini's in the Paper Paradise sale - BOGOF, and these are what she sent me in return after trying them out - Thanks again and I do love that background on the left!!!!

Theme Thursday Challenge - Hearts

I made these for an ATC swap that I am hosting on UKStampers forum, the theme is metalic or metal. Two of the backgrounds I made using my cuttlebug embossing plates and then I ran the hearts through too. The top right I put the end of the strip through the crinkle machine. I used alcohol inks to colour the hearts and one end of the strip. They will also fit into this weeks Theme Thursday challenge which is hearts.

Lotstodo Torso Tag Swap

These are for the torso tag swap on Lotstodo. The one on the right is another attempt at a transfer image, again it came out really well. This time I used cloudy blue for the background. The tag on the left was covered in lettuce adirondak acrylic paint and the flourishes were stamped on with gesso, I added ribbon and a flower gem for decoration

Rainbow Lady Challenge - Monotone

I am rather pleased with this skinny. I have made it for the Rainbow Lady Challenge, which this week was monotone - obvioulsy I chose the colour green. But the reason I am rather proud of it is because I tried a new transfer technique and the main image is a transfer. I used lettuce adirondak acrylic paint from the dabber, applied with a paint brush and stuck the photocopy of the image into the paint whist still wet. Left the whole lot to dry for about an hour, then using water, gently started to rub the paper away and I was left with this wonderful image. I then added a flourish to the top left and a scratches image to the left side using olive stazon ink. To finish, I added a piece of green organza ribbon and a button

Rainbow Skinny Swap - Lotstodo

Crazy Amigo Challenge - Travel

Travel was this weeks theme on the Crazy Amigo's blog challenge.
This will also double up as my rainbow skinny for a swap on Lotstodo.

Mixed Media Monday Challenge - Monochromatic Colours

This is my entry for the Mixed Media Monday Challenge - the colour I chose was red. I inked the skinny with aged mahogany distressed ink, then I threw water over it to make the watermarks. I dried it off with a heat gun, then I stamped my images using various different shades of red.
This will also double up as one of my red skinnys for the lotstodo rainbow swap

A Few Challenges in One

This piece covers 3 blog challenges this week. The challenge on Crazy Amigo's was Old Timer. The challenge set on Saturday's Workout was Raster Screen and finally Dymo Labeler on 4 x 4 Friday - I am quite pleased with all the elements and how they have come together.

I tore strips of masking tape and stuck them over the white card. I then chalked the whole piece in a couple of shades of orange and peeled the masking tape off to reveal the white lines. I stamped the image onto a separate piece of card using timber brown stazon and chalked the image with a different shade of orange. I positioned it on the 4x4, added some scratch lines with the TH stamp and inked the edges all in timber brown stazon. I then used my dymo labeler to make the words the good old days and stamped them out onto orange tape.

Wednesday Stamper Challenge - Newspaper

I created this atc for the challenge set on Wednesday Stamper - newspaper. I used the transfer technique but I think I should have been a bit more random with where I stuck the tape instead of putting it in lines!!! The image of the lady that you can see is taken from a newspaper along with the writing down the left hand side. I used alcohol inks to colour and stamped the word create across the bottom using black stazon ink

Created By Hand Challenge - Black, White & Grey

Here is my skinny for this weeks challenge on Created by Hand. The theme was black, white & grey
